From March 17th to November 11th 2018 the exhibition Byzantium & the West - A Millenium Forgotten, planned by Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum Mainz, will take place at the Renaissance Castle Schallaburg in Lower Austria. Following Byzanz – Pracht und Alltag (Kunsthalle Bonn 2010) and Das Goldene Byzanz und der Orient (Schallaburg 2012), with the current exhibition, the RGZM is for the first time dedicating itself to the changeable relations between the latin west and the greek-byzantine east, presented on a large scale (about 500 objects on 1300 square metres of exhibition space).
